A music festival in aid of charity is set to return to the Ouseburn Valley in Newcastle this weekend.

The Newcastle Takeover is taking place tomorrow as part of Oxfam's month-long music festival -- Oxjam -- to help raise as much money as possible.

Oxjam runs through October, with hundreds of events happening across the UK, all organised by local volunteers who know and love their local music scene, and who want to raise money to save lives around the world.

As well as raising funds for Oxfam, Oxjam's mission is to support talented emerging artists and help raise their profile around the region and beyond.

This year's event takes place on Saturday, October 24, where 27 artists will play across six venues in Ouseburn, including Cluny 2, The Cumberland Arms, Earnest, Retreat at St Dominic's, North Wing and The Tower.

It is being organised by a team of volunteers, led by Oxjam Takeover manager Stephen Ferrell, and the seven-strong team are aiming to raise [pounds sterling]5000 for Oxfam.
