Newcastle United aiming for DOUBLE promotion - and Peter Beardsley appeals for backing; Magpies in need of support as they look to win promotion against a talented West Ham side.

Peter Beardsley is hopingNewcastle Unitedfans turn out in force to cheer on the club's Under-23 side at St James' Park on Tuesday night (7pm).

Season ticket holders and members will gain free admission in the East Stand in a vital game against West Ham United for the young Magpies in the Premier League 2 play-off final.

Victory will sendBeardsley'sside into the upper tier of the top flight with the Toon legend eager to emulate the first team by winning promotion.

A crowd of just 437 turned up for Newcastle's semi-final win against Fulham last week and Beardsley hopes that supporters will back the youngsters in their hour of need.

Newcastle have already beaten West Ham 3-2 in the Premier League Cup, and drew 0-0 at St James' earlier in the season.

Beardsley told: "If this game is as good as other two were at St James' Park it will be a good game to turn up and watch. When you look the game with Fulham the gaffer Rafa Benitez was here for us with his staff.

"That is massive. The lads were looking to impress."

However, Beardsley knows his team are in for a tough test when they face the Hammers for the fourth time this season.

The cup win over West Ham was the only victory for Beardsley's side against the talented side from the London Stadium.

Newcastle's 3-2 win over West Ham came on a day when they benefited from having Sammy Ameobi in the side with the Academy product netting two fantastic goals.

Former United and England star Beardsley reflected: "They're the best we have played. West Ham are the best team.

"I'm not being disrespectful to Wolves (who West Ham beat in the play-off semi-final) but I am not surprised West Ham won.
