OJ Simpson dies aged 76 following cancer battle as family post statement

The former running back spent 11 seasons in the NFL playing for only the Bills and San Francisco 49ers. Taking to X, on Thursday, April 11, Simpson's official profile confirmed his death with a short statement. It read: "On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

"During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace -The Simpson Family."

In a May 2023 video posted to his social media, OJ appears to confirm having 'caught cancer'. While he didn't specify which type of cancer, he claimed to have already beaten it.

On February 9, 2024, ABC affiliate Local News 10 reported that Simpson had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. Simpson initially denied that he's in poor health, but did not deny the cancer diagnosis itself.
