Steven Woodcock was best known for his recurring role as the smooth-talking Jevon throughout the original run of Only Fools and Horses. 40 years after the show premiered on BBC One, the Eastenders star claimed the series has remained just as relevant as ever.

English actor Steven Woodcock believes the classic BBC comedy Only Fools and Horses still hits the mark after all these years.

Exactly 40 years after the series began in September 1981, the sitcom is still fondly remembered as some of the best comedy the UK has to offer.

Featuring countless characters and gags that have endured in the public consciousness throughout the decades, Woodcock maintained the series feels just as fresh as it did when it first started.

“The way that the characters are, they're dealing with real life,” he explained.

“They're not just dealing with things that are just simply of the time.”

Although Only Fools and Horses is certainly a time capsule of the 1980s and early 90s, Woodcock explained why the show can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of which generation they’re from.

He continued: “It's the way people think, that's what John Sullivan [the show's creator] got.”

“It's the way people think and the way they work, and I think that's what makes it current today.”

‘Only Fools’ featured David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst as brothers ‘Del Boy’ and Rodney Trotter, a pair of grifters trying to make ends meet in South London.

Steven Woodcock appeared in several episodes as Jevon, a local ladies man who partnered up with Mickey Pearce throughout series six.

Following his stint in the series, he would go on to appear as Clyde Tavernier in Eastenders for three years.
