Plans for two new Edinburgh indoor tennis courts to go ahead after council planning review

The council received the application to build the courts on the grounds of Grange Cricket Ground, for the construction of the indoor sports facility

The sports facility would include two tennis courts inside a tensioned fabric structure, coloured green and with a white roof.

The plans are that the facilities would be open from 8am until 10pm, with both club members and members of the public welcome to access the new indoor facilities on a pay-to-play basis.

However, regular access to the courts would be from the main club via Portgower Place.

The council conducted a detailed review of the application and any possible impacts it could have in terms of conservation and how it complies with the development plan

The Edinburgh City Council have recommended the plans go ahead, saying: "The proposal is of an appropriate design, scale and form that will preserve the character and appearance of the conservation area.

"Overall, the proposal complies with the Local Development Plan.
