Prepare for some Legendary Nights at Gateshead Old Town Hall; The first in a series of gigs fronted by Eliza Carthy will be Bright Phoebus, featuring Sheffield-based musicians.

This Saturday Gateshead Old Town Hall has the first in a series of gigs fronted by Eliza Carthy under the "Legendary Nights" header.

This show, entitled Bright Phoebus, features Sheffield-based musicians Sam Sweeney, Andy Cutting, Nancy Kerr and James Fagan.

Bright Phoebus -- aside from the name of the sun-god, Apollo -- was an acclaimed 1972 folk album by Carthy's aunt and uncle, Lal & Mike Waterson.

Other Sheffield musicians like Martin Simpson, Fay Hield and Jon Boden are also behind the musical collective and hold regular sessions, with quality guest musicians, to promote traditional music.
