In the attached message, Kate expressed gratitude for the "kind wishes and continued support over the last two months". She also wished everyone a happy Mother's Day, signing off as Catherine.

In addition to her post, the King published an affectionate photograph of himself and his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in commemoration of the day.

According to BBC reports, the picture was taken 'a few days ago', not long after an image featuring the princess and her mother on the Windsor Estate was released in the US, reports the Mirror.

This update follows sightings of Kate just last week, marking her first public appearance since having major surgery. She was spotted in a car driven by her mother, Carole Middleton - a promising sign of the future Queen's recovery after undergoing abdominal surgery on 16 January.

Days after, Kensington Palace called for peace amid the swirling rumours about Princess Diana's health. The palace criticised the "madness of social media" following weeks of often unkind and wild speculation over potential reasons why Kate was taking a long break from Royal duties.

Royal aides have been hesitant to provide a "running commentary" on her condition or recovery from her operation.

Despite Kensington Palace announcing that the future queen would step back from all official duties during a two-week hospital stay and a period of rest at home until after Easter, Kate's much-anticipated return was thrown into chaos on Tuesday when the Army announced she would appear at a Trooping the Colour rehearsal in June.
