Proman, a Swiss-based integrated energy company and a methanol and fertiliser producer, has entered into an MoU with Japan-based Mitsubishi Corporation to explore the feasibility of constructing a world-scale ultra-low-carbon ammonia facility in Lake Charles, Louisiana

The companies say that the proposed facility is to produce around 1.2 million tonnes per annum of clean ammonia by including state-of-the-art carbon capture and sequestration technology.

The facility is to be located on Proman's present site in Lake Charles, adjacent to Proman's natural gas to methanol plant which is also under development.
