Push to raise final millions for monument

The aim is to build The Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer between the M6 and the M42 motorways near Coleshill. It will be twice the size of the Angel of the North in Gateshead.

The public art piece, which will stand 169ft tall, is expected to attract 300,000 visitors each year, contributing £9.3 million to the local economy.

Those behind the scheme now want to raise the final £2.5 million of the total £10 million estimated cost. Richard Gamble said: "The idea has always been to build a crowd-created piece of public art, that will make hope visible.

"We're not building this landmark to have something nice to look at, we're building a community-focused structure that carries a legacy; generations in hundreds of years' time will see it and be inspired.

"Every penny donated through this crowdfunder will go directly into building work."

Once constructed, it is hoped profits raised from the ongoing operation of The Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer will fund one million bricks for local social housing.

The Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer was given the green light in 2020, after North Warwickshire Borough Council granted planning permission, and the Secretary of State ratified the decision.

Work on the structure is due to begin in 2022, with an access road being the first focus of construction...
