RSPCA officer captures moment a fox collapsed with its head stuck in a plastic bottle is rescued

There has been a lot of understandable anger, but as well as the frustration at the mess caused there are health and safety risks as well we all need to be aware of.

The RSPCA has warned of the dangers of littering after a fox in Newham wedged his head inside a plastic bottle, leaving it gasping for air.

The distressed fox was part of a family that lives in the bushes of the Ladywell Street car park.

RSPCA animal rescue officer Nick Jonas said: “When I arrived, I was really concerned that the fox might be running out of oxygen, as he’d collapsed in a bush and was breathing very heavily. I needed to work fast.

“He was so weak that I was able to lift him away from the bush and contain him in my fox carrier. He was really scared and I was relieved that I was able to remove the plastic bottle from his head with relative ease.
