Forward were 1186 prime hoggs and 246 cast ewes. What a trade the hoggs were had to be seen to be believed, fantastic values were seen. Many hoggs in Acklington sold on the day were from North Yorkshire, County Durham and the Scottish borders, many travelling over 100 miles to be sold in Acklington.

Prime Hoggs 1186 sold Topping the sale today with value and p/kg at 423pkg was a tremendous pen of 43kg Beltex hoggs from Messers Foster of Yorkshire achieving £182 purchased by Mr J Curle.

A great show of hoggs forward with plenty of flesh and quality hence an SQQ 289p. All hoggs sold beyond many expectations, many extremely happy vendors, all consignments selling exceptionally well. Topping grossing hoggs at £182 was again Messers Foster of Fordham Farms, Yorkshire. Overall average of 289pkg sqq and £124 per head. Overall 275pkg.

Cast Sheep The cast trade was very much dearer on the week, a very commercial show forward but those who presented ewes were very much rewarded. Topping the mart this week was a pen of outstanding Texel and Suffolk ewes from the Youngs, Redsteads, Christon Bank and the Warton team, William and Michael making £130 per head.
