Scottish pupils flee school bus as it bursts into flames on busy road

Emergency services raced to the scene on the A81 near Port of Menteith in Stirling after the alarm was raised at around 3:50 pm on Wednesday, June 22. Fire crews quickly scrambled to tackle the blaze

Dramatic pictures were sent to the Daily Record, showing smoke beginning to appear from the vehicle as students were evacuated. Further images show plumes of black smoke shooting out from the back of the vehicle.

Shocked pupils were pictured watching from a safe distance as the fire spread. Flames can be then seen shooting out from the back before the whole vehicle is engulfed.

A final image shows the burnt out shell of the vehicle after the devastating blaze. It's unclear how the fire started but thankfully no one was injured in the incident.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue said: "We received seven calls alerting us to the report of a bus alight on the A81 Callander to Aberfoyle road. The first call came in at 3.53pm.
