With Black Friday just around the corner, savvy shoppers will be looking to make the most of the many reductions that Amazon, among other retailers, will have to offer.

And while serious shoppers will already know the best tips and tricks on saving money, novices looking to save a penny or two may be out of their depth.

So in preparation, one expert has recently shared a list of tips for when sale season comes around. The Mirror's Laura Udall has shared ten savvy secrets that could help you save a small fortune at the checkouts on November 24.

So without further ado, here are her top ten pieces of money saving advice ahead of the Black Friday sales.

1 The early bird gets the worm

As we all know, many retailers will launch Black Friday deals in the build-up to Christmas, and it happens to fall on November 24 this year. And while some will choose to wait until the big day, some will introduce deals far earlier to beat competition to the chase.

Laura, said: "Amazon usually launches its deals a week before the event itself, but I have found that prices fall even further closer to Black Friday. In my experience, this is almost always the case for vacuum cleaners, air fryers and other household items, so you are probably best to wait for Black Friday itself."

2 Keep an eye on the competition

Seasoned shopper Stephen Hurrell has covered many a Black Friday sale in his role with Reach, and he said that it's a good idea to watch the competition as carefully as you would watch Amazon.

He said: "I have noticed that sites like Currys will often release their early Black Friday deals before Amazon. If you want to know what sort of discounts Amazon will be releasing on its own devices, keeping an eye on the Currys website in the week leading to Black Friday may be a good idea."

Planning ahead of time will maximise your buying power according to Laura, so you should surf the web and find out the 'finer details' about the things you want to buy. Try reading reviews, round-ups and social media comments to make sure you get the best make and model.
