Social Bite temporarily close Edinburgh city centre café to 'review best use of location'

The charity, who also own a number of stores within the city, have confirmed that their coffee and sandwich shop on Shandwick Place, near Haymarket, is currently closed, although no time scale has been placed on it re-opening, if at all

The shop, which offers a range of hot and cold snacks, has been closed for a number of weeks, with no sign of life or notice on the window. Confirming the news to Edinburgh Live, a spokesperson for Social Bite said that the team are currently reviewing the best use of the location while they work on up and coming developments across the city.

They added: "We've taken the decision to temporarily close our coffee shop at Shandwick Place as we review the best use of the location in line with a number of exciting developments planned for Social Bite in the coming months.

"Our Rose Street coffee shop remains open for anyone nearby looking for quality coffee and food, as well as to offer employment, food and hot drinks to Edinburgh's homeless community."

Social Bite began as a standalone coffee shop within Edinburgh in 2012 until a homeless man came in one day to ask about a job. Since then, the team have evolved into a charity and aim to do all they can to end homelessness ands help those within the city who struggle with living arrangements.
