Statkraft AS, a Norwegian government owned producer of renewable energy, said on Friday that it will acquire Swedish forest industry company Södra's 49% ownership in Silva Green Fuel, the companies' advanced biofuel technology venture.

For Statkraft, Silva Green Fuel is an important development project within renewable energy. The company is seeking a new partner to participate in the ongoing development of Silva Green Fuel and the construction of a full-scale biofuel production facility.

Demand for second-generation biofuels is rising, both in Norway and internationally. The advanced technology being developed in the demonstration facility at Tofte in Norway's Asker municipality positions Silva Green Fuel as an industry leader.

Södra is opting to concentrate on its core forestry business in the Swedish market...
