Siem de Jong has revealed Newcastle United head coach Steve McClaren has told the team to cut out the long balls and try to replicate a Dutch passing style.

Speaking to ELF Voetbal magazine in Holland, De Jong has revealed that McClaren is keen to integrate him into the first team as soon as possible after a debilitating debut season that was lost to injuries.

De Jong is happy that Newcastle are intent on playing a passing game -- and also says that he doesn't see Georginio Wijnaldum and himself competing for the same number ten slot.
