Sunderland's Elliot Embleton scored from the spot as England beat the Ivory Coast on penalties to retain the Toulon Tournament title.

The Young Lions took the lead in the 14th minute through Sheffield United's David Brooks, but a foul by Chelsea's Josh Grant substitute Juvenal Junior Agnero in the 90th minute saw Ake Arnaud Loba level with a penalty and take the final straight to a shoot-out.

England converted all five of their penalties in the shoot-out, Embleton among them, with Ivory Coast's Jean Thiery Lazare Amani missing his side's fourth spot-kick, which meant the Young Lions won 5-3 at the Stade de Lattre, Aubagne.

England's success came against a backdrop of struggles that began even before they headed to France with the team affected by the British Airways IT failure, and continued during the tournament with a fire alarm in the middle of the night, and a power cut at another hotel leaving them to wander the streets in search of a pre-match meal before another game.
