We had already prepared for a very different Christmas, with small bubbles allowed for only a few days over the festive period.

Then, thanks to a new strain of highly infectious coronavirus, we were plunged into Tier 4 and told Christmas was as good as cancelled for people in London and the South East.

Some people considered the decision to be a necessary evil, others think it's an overreaction, and many think the whole thing is just a shambles.
