Teacher stabbed in neck by 'teenage girl' on school playground 'lucky to be alive'

Hundreds of pupils reportedly remained locked down in classrooms immediately after the stabbing at around 11.20am on Wednesday, April 24, to allow Dyfed-Powys Police to arrest the detained Year 9 pupil and launch an investigation.

Emergency services rushed to the school where a teacher – reported to have been bleeding at the neck – was taken to hospital in an air ambulance, according to the Daily Mail.

Superintendent Ross Evans, Carmarthenshire Commander, said: "Emergency services immediately attended, and the school was locked down for the safety of everyone on the premises.

"Two teachers and a teenage pupil were taken to hospital with stab wounds. Their injuries are not life threatening. A teenage girl has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and currently remains in police custody."

A 'Code Red' was issued in the school as pupils hid in toilets and classroom cupboards before they, along with members of staff, were allowed to leave by police at around 3pm.

Superintendent Evans added: "We are working with the school and other agencies to ensure appropriate support is available to all involved. We are working with the school, Carmarthenshire County Council, and other agencies to ensure appropriate support is available to all involved."
