After you've navigated the narrow aisles, loaded up your trolley with bargains -and random items from the middle aisle -you then have to brave the toughest part of the Aldi experience.

Aldi staff are renowned for scanning your shopping at lightning speed as you frantically try to pack it away without smashing your eggs or squishing your bread.

In fact, the Express reported that Aldi says their tills are 40 percent quicker than those of rivals such as Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's.

Even though you're not actually meant to pack your shopping at the till -apparently you should be doing it in the designated packing area -we've all been there trying to keep up with the cashier's speedy scanning.

But how do they do it Are Aldi staff just superhuman, with arms that can move faster than us mere mortals could even imagine

Well, no -it turns out it's all in the packaging.

In other supermarkets, the barcode is placed in one discreet location which varies from product to product, meaning the cashier often has to turn it around and take a look to find where to scan.

This means it takes a little longer to get the item through the till, buying you precious packing time.
