Toyota Motor (NYSE: TTM), a Japan-based automaker, has signed a contract with local energy conglomerate Idemitsu Kosan.
The contract has been signed to co-develop 'mass production technologies for solid electrolytes, improve productivity and establish a supply chain for mass production of all solid state batteries' for battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
Both firms say that they intend to 'lead the world' in the development of materials for solid state batteries, with an aim to commence commercial production in the 2027-28 fiscal year, as had earlier been announced at the 'Toyota Technical Workshop' last June.
