The theme park is a family-friendly holiday option 35 kilometres north of Paris, in Plailly. With 50 different attractions available across six universes following the famous Gaul, Parc Asterix is a great option for families looking for an alternative to Thorpe Park or Disneyland. It's inspired by the cartoons following the exploits of Asterix, a Gaul, who along with his friend Obelix and other iconic characters explored French history with humour

Through the park's universes, visitors can travel back in time to six different periods of history. These include the Roman Empire, Ancient Greece, Egypt, and France from the Medieval times to the 19th century.

What's on at Parc Asterix

Rides include La Galère pirate ship ride, where corageous sailors swing back and forth in a giant ship, and La Tour de Numerobis, which takes riders up 40 metres before spinning them around. The ride offers stunning panoramic views out over the theme park, but offers a gentle descent.

If you love a rollercoaster, brave the Tonnerre 2 Zeus, translated into English as the Thunder 2 Zeus. The ride promises terror and speed in equal measure, with a 90 degree incline, high speed turns, and even a tunnel with special lighting effects.

As well as rides, Parc Asterix has a number of shows performed every day, including a water show where you can watch dolphins and sea lions perform. For more live entertainment, watch the Gauls vs Romans show, where the two sides go head to head in an arena.

How to get to Parc Asterix

Get to Parc Asterix by car via the A1 motorway, at exit 7 or 8. Parking is available to visitors for €20.

You can also travel to the theme park using public transport and shuttles. From Paris, take the RER B towards Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Get off at "Aéroport Roissy Charles de Gaulle 1" station. Go to the Parc Astérix counter where you will be redirected to the shuttles for the park. The shuttles leave every 30 minutes, one hour before the Park opens and up to one hour after the Park closes.

Where to stay

Parc Asterix has three hotels perfect for families wanting to spend a few days at the park. Les Trois Hiboux is a 3 hotel within walking distance from the park, and offers free parking and has rooms designed especially for families.

La Cite Suspendue is also a 3 hotel -with a twist. This hotel is lost in the heart of a thousand-year-old forest, with hamlets for guests built on stilts to protect the flora and fauna.
