In the UK there are laws which prevent noise pollution. These can be used in cases involving building work and give councils powers to control noise from construction sites.

What time in the morning can builders start work in the UK?

From Monday to Friday, the standard hours for which this noisy line of work is deemed acceptable is usually between 8am and 6pm. On Saturdays, this period generally shortens to between 8am and 1pm.

However, builders working on the site can enter the premises before 8am to prepare the area for that day's work. Although this is the generally accepted working time across the country, the exact times can differ due to the Control of Pollution Act 1974.
