A superb 190-run second-wicket partnership between Pakistani pro Umar Siddique Khan (105) and Harrison Smith, who batted through the innings for 105, laid a base from which Ollie Currill and Chris Calcott peppered the Arlington Avenue surroundings. Former Gloucestershire all-rounder Currill cleared the ropes seven times in his 36-ball 67, while Spa's keeper made 45 from only 19 balls.

Shellshocked Shrewsbury were then dismissed for 92 in just 22.4 overs as Currill underlined his claim to be the league's top all-rounder by claiming 4-31, while Matt Davison grabbed 3-21.

It will be a major surprise, however, if any of the chasing pack are able to prevent Berkswell from retaining the trophy.

Following their comfortable 86-run home win over Ombersley, Nick James' unbeaten team now have ten wins from 13 starts with five matches lost to rain or Covid-19 cancellations.
