Why 3 giant pubic flower displays have suddenly appeared in Shoreditch

The eye-catching floral display, shaped to look like pubic hair, has bloomed on a Shoreditch billboard as of this week.

The colourful flower arrangement can be found just off Shoreditch High Street on Old Street, and is part of a Gillette campaign to reduce stigma around female pubic hair.

A second installation has also been produced on Mare Street.

Venus, the brand's female product line, said the instalments are part of its campaign to "help tackle the embarrassment women feel when it comes to talking about pubic grooming."

A spokesperson for the company said: "Venus is hoping two immersive billboards displaying different pubic grooming styles will help to break taboos and help give women the confidence to talk about their pubic hair and skin."

The displays, featuring an array of real, colourful flowers, were assembled by a team of local florists in the early hours of Monday morning June 14.

Almost half of UK women 47% admit they’ve been made to feel saying the words ‘vagina’ or ‘pubic’ aren’t appropriate terms to use in public, according to Venus.

The razor and cosmetics company have said the two billboards will be "proudly showing different pubic grooming choices, whether hair is there, growing or gone."

The campaign is behind the launch of the new Venus For Pubic Hair & Skin Collection.
