Commercial real estate development and management company Wihlborgs Fastigheter AB (publ) (STO:WIHL) announced on Thursday that in November it will commence the expansion of a DC network connecting Alfa 3-6 (Studentkåren 2) at Ideon and Blekingska nationen's student housing.

The project, in collaboration with IT contractor Jonas Birgersson, aims to establish an independent energy distribution system to alleviate strain on the existing power grid and reduce electricity costs.

Dubbed the "Alpha project," it aligns with the CoAction Lund initiative, led by Lund municipality, striving for a climate-neutral Lund by 2030. CoAction, recently funded by Vinnova as one of two pilot projects, focuses on energy and mobility innovations.

Alfa 3-6 will house a battery, while Blekingska nationen's property features a solar power system. These buildings will be linked via a DC cable, enabling energy sharing between the battery and solar system.
